Australian visa changes
Australia’s Department of Immigration and Border Protection has announced changes to its temporary visas with the removal of five visa categories and the introduction of four new visa categories.
From close of business on November 16, TLScontact will no longer accept applications for the following visas:
. Subclass 401 Temporary Work (Long Stay Activity) visa
. Subclass 402 Training and Research visa
. Subclass 416 Special Program visa
. Subclass 420 Temporary Work (Entertainment) visa
. Subclass 488 Superyacht Crew visa.
Four new visa subclasses will be introduced from November 19:
. Subclass 400 Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) visa
. Subclass 403 Temporary Work (International Relations) visa
. Subclass 407 Training visa
. Subclass 408 Temporary Activity visa.
With the introduction of these new visas, applicants will need to apply online through ImmiAccount. TLScontact and the Australian High Commission will no longer accept paper applications for temporary activity visas.
The aim of these new visas is to make the application process easier and reduce the red tape for business, industry and individuals.
TLScontact has increased the number of appointments available each day at all South African visa application centres. TLScontact has also introduced a live operator option on its call centre service.
